YOGA
MY YOGA JOURNEY
Yoga has taught me to slow down and tune in to my body, appreciating all that it does. My yoga journey began only a short time ago. For the past 10-15 years I had been a yoga dabbler. Always finding my mind drifting off while I was in class and finding myself bored and frustrated.
It wasn’t until I stepped into a home studio and a yoga class guided by an inspirational and powerful woman in Sedona last March that my yoga journey truly began. She was spouting out words of inspiration while encouraging us to find and push our edge. I had no choice but to be fully present. In my body. I guess I needed that extreme physical challenge to tap into the deeper spiritual side. She has a kind of tough love that feels really challenging and supportive at the same time.
Through experiencing her classes I tapped into an inner power, and inner strength that I loved. I felt strong and confident in my body, something I had struggled with for most of my life. I know there was something for me in yoga so I started going trying all different classes and lineages of yoga.
THE PATH CONTINUES
In December of 2018 I got my 200hr RYT certification in Baja, Mexico at a fabulous yoga institute called Yandara. Going into the training I didn’t anticipate wanting to teach but through the process I discovered a love for sharing the practice. I was fortunate to begin teaching in the Verde Valley upon completion of the course. I love guiding others and at the same time always learning more about the poses. Cuing and observing different body types replicate the many shapes continues to be a wonderful teacher for me.
Fast forward a couple years later and I have had the pleasure of teaching at many different locations along my travels. Living the gypsy life I haven’t stayed one place long enough to build up a good routine at a studio but I do find opportunities to teach in unique places. This past summer I offered yoga to guests at a Ranch Resort near Jackson Hole, WY. I was hired to be chef but wanted to continue my practice and it was a great opportunity to teach to all levels. I am currently in Paonia, CO for a few moths and will be teaching at Yoga Tree in Hotchkiss and also looking forward to co-hosting another yoga immersion in March. Stay tuned for more!
